It was the capital of the princely state of Bikaner. The city is also known for producing great warriors. Climate:
Bikaner has hot desert climate as it is situated in the middle of the Thar desert. In summers it is very hot and in winters it is slightly cold as temperature exceeds.

How to travel:
By road: city is well connected with the roads though it has unfriendly deserts and sand around. It is 240 km from Jodhpur, 316 km from Jaipur and 330 km from Jaisalmer. The interstate and local bus service is also available from Bikaner.

By Rail: Bikaner is well connected with the cities like Kolkata, Agra, Jaipur, Allahabad and Delhi etc.
By Air: 240 km away the nearest airport is at Bikaner.

Junagarh fort :
The most attractive fort in Bikaner is Junagarh fort. The fort was built by Maharaja Rai Singh. The fort is completely built with red sandstone. The interior of the fort is done with the marble. There is also a fort museum within the fort and displays the collection of dresses, paintings, weapons and other historical things.

Lalgarh Palace:

Lalgarhpalace was built in the memory of his father by Maharaja Ganga singh. Palace is at 3km from the Bikaner. Palace is quite imposing with its overhanging balconies. Palace is coated in red sandstone and has several lounges,cupolas, grand halls and pavillions.

Now, the Lalgarh palace is converted into heritage hotel.

Camel research and breeding farm:
Camel Research and breeding farm is the only one kind of its kind in Asia. It is 8 kms from Bikaner.
